Hailstorm

I woke up to the boom,

the walls shaking in my room,

the rattling of a chain,

racing Thoughts in my brain.

The ground fell away from my feet,

I lay in wait fearing defeat.

my bones felt so weak,

I dared not to speak.

I ran, but had nowhere to go,

I tried knocking on every door.

The night out in the cold,

made my soul bold.

I could die in wait,

I won’t accept that fate,

i could keep crying in pain,

Or go dancing in the rain,

Because my mama prays,

I will see better days.

I abhor war deep in my core,

I can’t take it any more.
